A Voice: The Moon. Five Individuals in an Incubator… \nMeet Amethyst\, Moonstone\, Topaz\, Jasper\, and Quartz. \nA mission and a secret: How will humanity be saved from the Werewolf? And who is this Werewolf\, anyway? \nWhy is Amethyst obsessed with words and in love with Moonstone?\nWhy does Quartz fixate on time and yearn for the Day of Luxury?\nCan Topaz rise to power\, and why is she terrified of frogs?\nWhy does Jasper seem indifferent to everything?\nAnd what exactly is happening with Moonstone? \nBut beware—this theatrical performance answers none of these questions! \nInstead\, you’ll witness transformations and uncover the eternal struggle for dominance: words or actions? You’ll feel the tension of command\, savor the warmth of the Embrace\, and breathe in the fleeting relief of the Day of Luxury. Yet\, freedom? That comes only when all turns to darkness. \nAs for your connection with the actors\, it happens only in the Confessional Room. But do you dare confess your darkest thoughts? \nA performance woven with symbolic riddles and lyrical dialogues\, culminating in an ending that is not an ending. \nWelcome to the Incubator\, little and big fish alike. What will you transform into? \n\nA PERFORMANCE AND SOCIAL QUESTIONS\n“Werewolf” delves into profound societal themes\, allowing the Werewolf to serve as a powerful symbol open to interpretation: \n\nIf the Werewolf represents the environmental crisis\, the play reflects on the loss of nature and freedom.\nIf it symbolizes power\, it transforms into a political statement on social inequality—rich versus poor\, masters versus servants\, commanders versus executors.\nIf the Werewolf embodies war\, whether external conflict or inner turmoil\, the play becomes a hymn to peace and harmony.\nAnd\, as all stories do\, it touches lightly on love and human warmth\, offering hope for the future.\n\nUltimately\, “Werewolf” poses a dilemma: Do words or actions hold greater power in shaping society? \nThe answer lies in transformation—internal\, societal\, and external. \nAre you ready for yours? \nThe Theatre Movement will be in Greek and is organised by CUBE. Whatever doesn’t comply with the new order will be either consumed or annihilated. The people outside of the wall make the only possible choice – they follow the Spirit of the Sea into the waves to search for their new home. There\, in the underwater world\, they can find peace once again. But what happens when the city limits go beyond the borders of the land and into the waters? \nThe project is a part of the Theatre in Palm Residency researching the relationship between art and science. Using the power of myths and ancient storytelling\, it touches upon the topics of biodiversity\, interconnectivity\, and current ecological crises\, showing the invisible threads between the human and the marine ecosystem. It encourages the audience to consider interdependent and symbiotic relations\, inspired by the notion that one cannot live detached from their environment. \nIt is a reflection on possible outcomes not only to respond to ecological threats but also to propose a new imaginary future that is capable of including the rights of human and non-human organisms in the decision-making process. \nArtists in residence:\nAnita Szymańska – A multidisciplinary Polish creator\, Anita blends folk tales with polyphonic singing as she crafts her debut one-woman show.\nEirini Petraki – A Greek-British actress and playwright\, Eirini’s work in experimental theatre and children’s performances has earned recognition from the UN.\nEllen Finnerty – Irish artist and performer Ellen merges physical theatre with language exploration and is co-founder of Dublin’s Bluehouse Theatre.\nMarcos Mereles – A London-based filmmaker\, Marcos’s debut feature premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and has been celebrated across global festivals.\nSabine Neilande – Latvian contemporary dance artist Sabine fuses dance with thought-provoking themes\, consistently pushing the limits of her art. \nCurators:\nAlessia Gervasone (Espronceda) & Elisabetta Broglio (ICM – CSIC) \nCommunication:\nMalena Vinay\nMaria Rubies Vistuer \nProduction and Graphic:\nMilo de Prieto\nLiza Adamchuk \nThe program is developed in collaboration with:\nThe Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM – CSIC)\, Barcelona\nThe Art Centre La Panera of Lleida.\nChristian Alonso PhD\nThe research group Art\, Globalization and Interculturality of the University of Barcelona. The festival is organized as part of the Theatre in Palm project (Theatre Movement) by Turku Arts Academy and Turku based theatre Tehdas Teatteri. \nThis year the festival gives the stage to 3 different\, new and intriguing original pieces\, all created by this year’s Turku Arts Academy graduates. \nPerformances\nAUTIO MAA (Empty Earth) by Meri Salo is a scorching hot dystopia about climate change that combines puppet and mask theater with ancient Greek inspired chorus. \nMÄDÄNNÄINEN by Petra Lumme deals with the individual grief process. A process that often happens just like the thing that caused it\, unnoticed and without warning. This show is a dive into grief\, its repressibility\, sensitivity and powerlessness. \n \n  \nPORTTI (THE GATE) by Tuomas Vainionpää is a story about a guard who realizes they have become part of a fascist dictatorship and its machinery of violence. This performance\, narrated through object theatre\, light\, sound\, and a single actor\, explores the development of an unnamed genocide in ten stages. \n \nNOUSUT is a unique festival born out of the need and desire to connect emerging theatre artists with the already established theatre makers. It plays an important part in the Turku Arts Academy’s curriculum for theatre art studies offering the first year students a place to immerse themselves to the local theatre scene and at the same time\, giving the graduating students a chance to shine and find audiences to their work. \n  \nMore info\, program and tickets: Nousut 2024\nFacebook event: Nousut 2024 \n  \nWelcome to discover and enjoy this unique experience!\n  \n  \n  URL:https://theatreinpalm.eu/event/theatre-movement-nousut-festival-30-8-1-9-2024/ LOCATION:Tehdas Teatteri\, Itäinen Rantakatu 64 b\, Turku\, 20810\, Finland CATEGORIES:Live event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://theatreinpalm.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Nousut2024.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Stockholm:20240829T190000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Stockholm:20240829T200000 DTSTAMP:20250530T175248 CREATED:20240701T133730Z LAST-MODIFIED:20240821T050402Z UID:10000488-1724958000-1724961600@theatreinpalm.eu SUMMARY:Roadshow: 1974 DESCRIPTION:In the performance “1974”\, Swedish theatre makers Jenny Möller Jensen (b. 1985) and Ebba Petrén (b. 1988) take the audience back to 1970s Stockholm. In a world characterized by profound inequalities and injustices\, the current economic system is often seen as the main source of many of the global problems we face. However\, this system is rarely questioned or alternatives imagined. \nThe event takes the form of a theatrical roadshow and aims to address a challenge. Starting from the idea that consumer awareness can be a powerful tool to bring about significant change\, the event focuses on the importance of conscious consumption as a means to mitigate the negative effects of our economic system. Through an artistic performance\, the focal points of a possible social and economic paradigm shift will be highlighted. \nAt a time when many people feel powerless in the face of global problems\, art can play a fundamental role in restoring understanding and hope. The event will not only entertain but offer tools for understanding and models of virtuous behavior\, highlighting the distortions of a system that needs to be challenged. \nThe aim is to stimulate collective reflection and inspire concrete change. Theatre can reveal hidden truths and motivate the audience to imagine and build a better future. \nThe event is realized as the outcome of a summer workshop run by professionals from the Mamimò theatre center and involving emerging artists with the aim of investigating different themes and works by transforming them into theatre performances. \nBook your place: biglietteria@mamimo.it \nThe event is in Italian and is free of charge!
