DESCRIPTION:(Alla suomeksi) \nWelcome to the Gallery of the Forgotten workshop\nThe participatory workshop we will create an installation and discuss social inclusiveness. The installation will be created using objects and things brought to the workshop. \nPreliminary task\nBring to the workshop an object or a thing that symbolizes a forgotten thing\, a phenomenon\, a story\, a person\, anything. You can think about what exactly you want to keep\, what story do you want to make visible? A phenomenon or thing can be small and tangible\, or large and abstract. An abstract thing can be\, for example\, a photo. Bring something that can be left in the hands of the facilitators or in a supervised space for the duration of the workshop. Items are returned to their owners after the end of the workshop and are treated with respect. DESCRIPTION:(Alla suomeksi) \nResidency for exploring\, sensing\, immersing and creating\nFive international artists from different backgrounds and skillsets will work together two weeks in a multidiscipline workshop in Turku\, Finland\, on the themes of equality and sustainability. Here you can find the artist introductions. \nDuring this creative process they will share with each other\, learn from each other and by the end create something special together. It can be a performance\, installation\, poem\, play script\, music\, reflection of their work\, work-in-progress  – nobody knows before they have processed and created it. According to the mentor of the residency\, puppeteer Maiju Tainio: “The emphasis will be in exploring tactile\, multisensory and immersive art. \n  \nShowcase is free and open for all\nThe result of the residency work will be presented on Thursday 5.9.2024 at 13.00-15.30 at the Turku Arts Academy (Linnankatu 54-60\, Turku). DESCRIPTION:Unsilenced Theatre\, a theatre group from Finland\, has collected untold stories from European people\, dived deeply into the historical events and explored the concept of memories and how we remember things. We have asked people what do they wish to remember and what are the things they wish to forgot? \nThe first artistic outcome of the documentary inspired material takes a form of a Historical Museum that examines the concept of forgotten memories and it may or may not remember things correctly. The Museum opens in September in Turku\, Finland 2024. The festival is organized as part of the Theatre in Palm project (Theatre Movement) by Turku Arts Academy and Turku based theatre Tehdas Teatteri. \nThis year the festival gives the stage to 3 different\, new and intriguing original pieces\, all created by this year’s Turku Arts Academy graduates. \nPerformances\nAUTIO MAA (Empty Earth) by Meri Salo is a scorching hot dystopia about climate change that combines puppet and mask theater with ancient Greek inspired chorus. \nMÄDÄNNÄINEN by Petra Lumme deals with the individual grief process. A process that often happens just like the thing that caused it\, unnoticed and without warning. This show is a dive into grief\, its repressibility\, sensitivity and powerlessness. \n \n  \nPORTTI (THE GATE) by Tuomas Vainionpää is a story about a guard who realizes they have become part of a fascist dictatorship and its machinery of violence. This performance\, narrated through object theatre\, light\, sound\, and a single actor\, explores the development of an unnamed genocide in ten stages. \n \nNOUSUT is a unique festival born out of the need and desire to connect emerging theatre artists with the already established theatre makers. They serve as a reflective mirror to our time.\nHalf a century ago\, in the year 1974 Sweden got it’s first cultural political programme\, aiming for diversity and progression. Today\, art is politically valued somewhat differently: like a basic industry akin to iron and wood. The ongoing debate in Sweden concerning how economic support influence artistic freedom provides crucial context for this performance. As crucial is the two artists burning desire to work together like it’s their last chance. \nThe production is a collaboration between the PotatoPotato and Nyxxx\, two artist collectives that have played an active role in shaping the professional independent performing arts scene in Sweden during the last fifteen years. \nJensen is an actress and curator interested in creating situations and context with a strong physical presence and to work in processes with an uncertain result to enable unknown expressions.\nPetrén is a multimedial director and writer whose work revolves around participation\, play and translation between inner and outer worlds. First you will learn more about Theatre Green Book by experiences from an inspiring international workshop held in Gävle by Folkteatern Gävleborg together with Assitej and Teateralliansen early this year. What forms would we like it to take going forward\, and how can we work together to develop criticism’s ability to develop performing arts? \nIn the conversation\, meet theatre critics and performing artists from four different countries and discuss the prerequisites and possibilities of theatre criticism. \nThe conversation is moderated by Sandra Grehn\, who holds a PhD in Comparative Literature/Theatre Studies and is a lecturer at the University of Gothenburg and Stockholm University in Sweden. In a world characterized by profound inequalities and injustices\, the current economic system is often seen as the main source of many of the global problems we face. However\, this system is rarely questioned or alternatives imagined. \nThe event takes the form of a theatrical roadshow and aims to address a challenge. Starting from the idea that consumer awareness can be a powerful tool to bring about significant change\, the event focuses on the importance of conscious consumption as a means to mitigate the negative effects of our economic system. Through an artistic performance\, the focal points of a possible social and economic paradigm shift will be highlighted. \nAt a time when many people feel powerless in the face of global problems\, art can play a fundamental role in restoring understanding and hope. The event will not only entertain but offer tools for understanding and models of virtuous behavior\, highlighting the distortions of a system that needs to be challenged. \nThe aim is to stimulate collective reflection and inspire concrete change. Take the opportunity to ask your questions about the Theater Academy  which\, among other things\, will be held at Konträr. \nAbout Keeping Up with the Iranians:\nShortly after the 1979 Iranian revolution\, the new leader\, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini\, banned music in the country\, equating it to opium. As a result\, many artists moved to Los Angeles to find new ways to make a living and practice their artistry in exile without the support they previously received from the authorities. This was often via recordings of\, and concerts of\, the dāmbuli dimbol music genre \, as that was the music people danced to at mehmooni (a social event where you are invited to someone’s home for dinner\, dancing\, celebrating\, etc.). It is a fugitive culture of dance\, music and joy\, and it has long been dismissed as apolitical and poisoned art by intellectuals\, Marxists\, Islamists and Westerners. But with the help of illegal dissemination\, it has found its way back to Iran and become mainstream culture behind closed doors. Repression has made this music signify secret community and freedom – a catalyst for realizing one’s dreams. \nThe performance Keeping Up with the Iranians takes its roots in this part of music history by recreating a mehmooni with world-renowned singers Setareh and Poupak\, chart-topping pianist Fereshteh and renowned choreographer Dancing Dina\, who come all the way from Los Angeles to visit. A live event that uses the facial expressions of participants to create digital “art”  generated by an AI facial recognition program. The process reads one participant at a time to fill the wall with how the AI is interpreting “reading” their expressions. The event is open\, especially to performance art artists who want to experiment with new technologies. \nAbout The Artists\nJuliana and Andrey VRADY are multimedia artists based in Germany. Andrey has been an artistic director of leading print and advertising companies for many years. He is keen on undertaking experiments with photography\, making digital collages\, and finding new aesthetics in the new media. Juliana\, his other half\, comes from the film industry. The duo has achieved several milestones in interactive works and is still developing further. DESCRIPTION:Europe Day\, which takes place every year on May 9\, celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic declaration in which the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman set out the idea of a new form of political collaboration in Europe\, which would make war between European nations unthinkable. \nIn Reggio Emilia\, Europe Day is celebrated with the organization of an event open to young people from the area to learn about Europe\, experience its opportunities\, get involved and discuss European issues. \nThe theater consortium “Consorzio Balsamico” created a theatrical atelier happening to involve the participants. The founding characteristic of the atelier is exploration: by immersing themselves in an environment/landscape set up by material stimuli and technologies\, the group of participants has free access to a creative experience. This allows the discovery of relationships\, plots\, and interactions that favor the development of symbolic thinking and lateral thinking. \nThere are 4 topics covered\, through different languages: \n– Environmental sustainability and climate change\nStop motion technique\, creation of a material landscape with recycled materials. \n– Conflicts\, peace and war\nUsing sound instruments\, bring the voice to a message. \n– Rights\nMaterial and verbal language\, creating messages of peace. \n– Mobility and freedom of movement\nGraphic and verbal language. How do our boundaries intertwine with those of others? \nConsorzio Balsamico is a theater company founded in 2020 that investigates\, through the tool of the atelier\, creativity in various contexts\, both artistic and non-artistic\, using the exploration of matter and materials as a research ground for creative processes.

DESCRIPTION:Theatre Movement – NUVOLICADIRA Landscapes of Climate Change\nOn the 4th of May at 5 pm\, during the inauguration of the photographic exhibition “NUVOLICADIRA Landscapes of Climate Change” on the theme of Climate Change\, a theatrical performance will be held\, closely connected with environmental and sustainability issues. \nThe performance consists of the reading of a text written and performed by Francesco Garuti. The protagonist is a tree that speaks to humanity – identified in the public – by addressing environmental issues. After the initial performance\, a live painting will be held by Francesca Ferrari who will transform the words into paintings. \nFrancesco Garuti is an actor and sculptor born in Reggio Emilia. After graduating in agriculture he decided to change course by entering the Nico Pepe Academy in Udine where he graduated in 2019. During the pandemic period\, he takes advantage of the time available to deepen his passion for sculpture until it becomes a parallel work. His latest artistic project “Alberi Comuni” aims to bring together sculpture\, theater and a passion for botany in a journey that investigates the relationship between humans and plants. He currently works on theater projects in Italy and abroad and collaborates regularly with the Mamimò theater center in Reggio Emilia. \nFrancesca Ferrari\, born in Reggio Emilia too\, is a young artist of live painting\, a form of visual performance art in which artists complete a visual art piece in a public performance. Her art and style can be considered “naïve”\, focusing in representing images\, sensations and emotions captured during a music or a theatre performance. \n  \nInformation about the exibition \nNuvolicadira is a participatory photography project promoted by Fondazione E35 and curated by Luis Bernardeau and Luna Beggi that explores the delicate relationship between man and nature in different national\, European\, and international contexts. \nThe project has seen the activation of a network of amateur photographers who took shots in Italy\, Spain\, Austria\, Iceland\, Mozambique\, Australia\, Lebanon and Germany. The shots were collected through a participatory process\, also thanks to international relations and collaborations in the area. \nThe theme of the photography project is strictly connected with the theme of the Theatre in Palm project\, where the majority of the activities concentrated on sustainability and environmental change. \nThe photographic exhibition will be held during the OFF Circuit of the European Photography Festival in Reggio Emilia. “Fotografia Europea” is an international cultural festival dedicated to contemporary photography\, promoted since 2006 by the Fondazione Palazzo Magnani and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia in collaboration with various public and private cultural institutions at local\, national and international level. The festival takes place in various public and private\, formal and informal venues in the city\, and is composed of a central core of exhibitions\, including new productions commissioned ad hoc\, and an OFF circuit\, an offer of exhibitions and events disseminated throughout the territory and promoted independently by galleries\, associations\, public institutions and private subjects. The 19th edition of the European Photography Festival\, with the name ‘NATURE LOVES TO HIDE’\, will be dedicated to the delicate relationship between man and nature as well as the destructive impact of climate change.

Inervo creates dreamlike performances on the border between the dystopian and the real that lead us to reflect on relevant contemporary issues. Most of the material used in his scenographies tries to respect as much as possible the principles of sustainability in order to reduce the possible environmental impact. In the case of Oceanida\, for example\, the research carried out in the field of lighting and the work that has been done to apply it to the costumes\, with the aim of creating sustainable lighting generated by the performers themselves\, can be considered of particular relevance. DESCRIPTION:Platform where anyone can test their ideas on stage\n“Leisure Wednesday – Performatively Affirmed Ideas” returns to CNDB (The National Center for Dance in Bucharest) in a special edition\, on Saturday\, April 6th\, and Sunday\, April 7th. Perhaps the most well-known project of CNDB and the one that attracted a large audience in the years when the institution operated in the building of the National Theater\, “Leisure Wednesday” is a format initiated and conceived by artists Eduard Gabia and Maria Baroncea\, and presented in collaboration with Paula Dunker. \nDemocratic and accessible space for everyone\n“Leisure Wednesday – Performatively Affirmed Ideas” is an open platform where anyone can test their ideas on stage\, provided they register in advance. Anyone can participate\, regardless of age\, profession\, education\, or training. The stage thus becomes a democratic and accessible space for everyone\, creating conditions for meetings and dialogues without boundaries\, beyond disciplines\, backgrounds\, and experiences. \nOn April 6th\, Eduard Gabia\, Maria Baroncea\, and Paula Dunker will invite some of the participants from previous editions to revisit their own interventions within the project. \nFor Sunday\, April 7th\, registrations for new moments are expected.
