He trained at the A. Peri Conservatory in Reggio Emilia\, the DAMS program in Bologna\, and the Paolo Grassi Civic School of Theatre in Milan. He teaches acting and voice at the MaMiMò Theatre Center and composes music for theatre productions and commercials. His work focuses on the intersection of music and theatre\, both in performance and pedagogy. DESCRIPTION:The session will start with a brief introduction of Maestro Antonio Fava\, and it will continue with a presentation to the Commedia dell’Arte. \nCommedia dell’Arte\nIts appearance in the 16th Century in Italy and its spread and adaptation throughout Europe marked a highly important turning point in the history of the western Theatre: with it\, the Theatre changed from ritualistic and amateurish to actual profession (art).\nThe new actor was born\, someone who possessed a personal acting “know-how”.\nThis gave rise to the Modern Theatre.\nCommedia dell’Arte as presented nowadays\, is an exacting discipline where practical ability and know-how are essential for those who intend to make the Theatre their career. \nInformation about the artist\, Antonio Fava\nAntonio Fava is actor\, author\, theatre director and musician. Master of Commedia dell’Arte and comic disciplines. He runs the International School of the Comic Actor in Reggio Emilia\, Italy.\nFava designs and makes leather masks for use at his school and in his shows. He teaches Commedia dell’Arte in Institutes\, Universities and Academies of Dramatic Art all over the world.\nHe exhibits his masks in major museums and cultural institutions and is an international director. He is the author of the book “La maschera comica nella Commedia dell’Arte”\, published by Andromeda Editrice\, Italy and by North Western University Press. USA and by Libros Del Balcon Argentina. SUMMARY:HUMANVERSE - New ecosystems of the web3 between performing arts\, technology and post-human
DESCRIPTION:The Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture in Barcelona will host the presentation of artist Martin Romeo’s “Humanverse” project\, winner of the Italian Council (11th edition\, 2022) on May 26th\, 2023. \nHumanverse is a project that visually reflects on the themes and tools of recent years\, in which the metaverse and artificial intelligence have exponentially increased information\, creating new imaginaries and communities of inhabitants. Martin has worked on themes of synthetic corporeality\, performativity in virtual spaces\, artificial ecosystems\, and digitalized biological and organic forms. \nDuring the presentation\, Martin will showcase the research projects he has developed on the Metaverse made on Spatial\, as well as elaborations made primarily through prompts\, using various platforms such as Stable Diffusion and Runway. Through the use of virtual reality headsets\, the audience will be able to enter these environments and share a unique\, participatory\, and immersive experience. \nHumanverse continues online following the artist’s instagram page where it is possible to consult the developments of the research and the final rest tution of the project in November 2023 at the Etopia Center for Art and Technology in Zaragoza. The artist will present the conclusions of the research project through various visual and physical experiences both with the headsets and with the building facade of the art center. \nThe Barcelona event represents an extraordinary opportunity to connect with new forms of artistic creation that combine technology and performance and to reflect on the dynamics involved in generating audiovisual content. \nThe artist \nMartin Romeo is an Italian-Argentine visual artist who explores the relationship between nature and technology through various mediums\, including dynamic sculptures\, VR performances\, and multimedia installations. His research enables him to interpret and intimately perceive the world\, dividing his production into tangible and intangible works. SUMMARY:Digital Coffee Talk 7: Meaning making in storytelling and performance
DESCRIPTION:Theatre\, at its core\, is communication with one quintessential goal- to stir the captive audience with a wet splash of motionless movement\, sift the topsoil of their hearts\, and finally plant in the moist furrows of their minds\, a seed of undeniable transformation and inviolate change. \nIn this Digital Coffee Talk\, we will explore the constraints and freedoms of curating performances and devising theatre that generates a new meaning and topicality. As this is a joint process between the audience and performers\, how does one plan or strategise for a specific outcome involving the former\, an unknown element till showtime? Are there universal thresholds of meaning that a theatrical performer can access cutting across cultural barriers and if so\, are there rules for adapting a performance\, both responsively and responsibly\, as customised for both local actors and audience? We will explore these questions by contextualizing the theatrical process as a Bohmian dialogue between performer\, story and the audience and see if this language throws up new ways of looking at performative impact.
