SUMMARY:Theatre Movement - Europe Day
DESCRIPTION:Europe Day\, which takes place every year on May 9\, celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic declaration in which the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman set out the idea of a new form of political collaboration in Europe\, which would make war between European nations unthinkable. \nIn Reggio Emilia\, Europe Day is celebrated with the organization of an event open to young people from the area to learn about Europe\, experience its opportunities\, get involved and discuss European issues. \nThe theater consortium “Consorzio Balsamico” created a theatrical atelier happening to involve the participants. The founding characteristic of the atelier is exploration: by immersing themselves in an environment/landscape set up by material stimuli and technologies\, the group of participants has free access to a creative experience. This allows the discovery of relationships\, plots\, and interactions that favor the development of symbolic thinking and lateral thinking. \nThere are 4 topics covered\, through different languages: \n– Environmental sustainability and climate change\nStop motion technique\, creation of a material landscape with recycled materials. \n– Conflicts\, peace and war\nUsing sound instruments\, bring the voice to a message. \n– Rights\nMaterial and verbal language\, creating messages of peace. \n– Mobility and freedom of movement\nGraphic and verbal language. How do our boundaries intertwine with those of others? \nConsorzio Balsamico is a theater company founded in 2020 that investigates\, through the tool of the atelier\, creativity in various contexts\, both artistic and non-artistic\, using the exploration of matter and materials as a research ground for creative processes.

DESCRIPTION:Theatre Movement – NUVOLICADIRA Landscapes of Climate Change\nOn the 4th of May at 5 pm\, during the inauguration of the photographic exhibition “NUVOLICADIRA Landscapes of Climate Change” on the theme of Climate Change\, a theatrical performance will be held\, closely connected with environmental and sustainability issues. \nThe performance consists of the reading of a text written and performed by Francesco Garuti. The protagonist is a tree that speaks to humanity – identified in the public – by addressing environmental issues. After the initial performance\, a live painting will be held by Francesca Ferrari who will transform the words into paintings. \nFrancesco Garuti is an actor and sculptor born in Reggio Emilia. After graduating in agriculture he decided to change course by entering the Nico Pepe Academy in Udine where he graduated in 2019. During the pandemic period\, he takes advantage of the time available to deepen his passion for sculpture until it becomes a parallel work. His latest artistic project “Alberi Comuni” aims to bring together sculpture\, theater and a passion for botany in a journey that investigates the relationship between humans and plants. He currently works on theater projects in Italy and abroad and collaborates regularly with the Mamimò theater center in Reggio Emilia. \nFrancesca Ferrari\, born in Reggio Emilia too\, is a young artist of live painting\, a form of visual performance art in which artists complete a visual art piece in a public performance. Her art and style can be considered “naïve”\, focusing in representing images\, sensations and emotions captured during a music or a theatre performance. \n  \nInformation about the exibition \nNuvolicadira is a participatory photography project promoted by Fondazione E35 and curated by Luis Bernardeau and Luna Beggi that explores the delicate relationship between man and nature in different national\, European\, and international contexts. \nThe project has seen the activation of a network of amateur photographers who took shots in Italy\, Spain\, Austria\, Iceland\, Mozambique\, Australia\, Lebanon and Germany. The shots were collected through a participatory process\, also thanks to international relations and collaborations in the area. \nThe theme of the photography project is strictly connected with the theme of the Theatre in Palm project\, where the majority of the activities concentrated on sustainability and environmental change. \nThe photographic exhibition will be held during the OFF Circuit of the European Photography Festival in Reggio Emilia. “Fotografia Europea” is an international cultural festival dedicated to contemporary photography\, promoted since 2006 by the Fondazione Palazzo Magnani and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia in collaboration with various public and private cultural institutions at local\, national and international level. The festival takes place in various public and private\, formal and informal venues in the city\, and is composed of a central core of exhibitions\, including new productions commissioned ad hoc\, and an OFF circuit\, an offer of exhibitions and events disseminated throughout the territory and promoted independently by galleries\, associations\, public institutions and private subjects. The 19th edition of the European Photography Festival\, with the name ‘NATURE LOVES TO HIDE’\, will be dedicated to the delicate relationship between man and nature as well as the destructive impact of climate change.

DESCRIPTION:  \nESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture\, the INSTITUT DE CIÈNCIES DEL MAR EMBIMOS Research Group (ICM-CSIC) of Barcelona and the INERVO COMPANY are pleased to announce the beginning of a new collaboration that will take its first steps from May 2 to 4\, 2024\, and that will take the form of an interdisciplinary event of art and science called LuzLíquida. \nLuzLíquida is developed in the framework of THEATRE IN PALM\, a European platform\, which brings together 12 partners from all over Europe to collaborate in the promotion and support of emerging artists in the field of performing and performing arts. Everything is developed in an interdisciplinary language that combines the concepts of dance\, theater and installations. The piece as a whole plays with light and darkness\, allowing the audience to approach the bioluminescence of the creatures of the seabed through the costumes and the movement of the dancers\, which creates a mysterious and enveloping atmosphere. \nARTISTIC CONCEPT\nThe core of the Inervo Company’s artistic language is interdisciplinary research in which dance\, theater\, performance and installation work together to develop the company’s own language. \nThey focus on topics such as ecology\, feminism and science. Inervo creates dreamlike performances on the border between the dystopian and the real that lead us to reflect on relevant contemporary issues. Most of the material used in his scenographies tries to respect as much as possible the principles of sustainability in order to reduce the possible environmental impact. In the case of Oceanida\, for example\, the research carried out in the field of lighting and the work that has been done to apply it to the costumes\, with the aim of creating sustainable lighting generated by the performers themselves\, can be considered of particular relevance. How is the condition of waiting established in a city and why is a group of young people forced to leave it? \nThe Thessaloniki metro\, the most long-awaited project to be delivered\, the city project that is constantly postponed\, is a subject that has never been presented in the form of a theatrical performance. The dancer’s gaze opens to the image\, some other place\, and reverberates in Spartaco Cortesi’s live music score. \n  \nThe choreographic device leads to a body that is surprised by the movement and is surprised\, distant but present in an inconsistent but visionary space. The performer offers a look that seeks a hyper-reality\, involving and leading the passenger’s spectators in an empathic process between reminiscence and prediction. Master of Commedia dell’Arte and comic disciplines. He runs the International School of the Comic Actor in Reggio Emilia\, Italy.\nFava designs and makes leather masks for use at his school and in his shows. He teaches Commedia dell’Arte in Institutes\, Universities and Academies of Dramatic Art all over the world.\nHe exhibits his masks in major museums and cultural institutions and is an international director. Workshops are independent and with different subjects (someone can attend only one or both): \nSATURDAY 10 AM-6 PM:\nThe theory: a theoretical approach to how ancient drama is historically performed by professionals and in school theater. Convergences\, divergences\, and dilemmas. \nTragedy: search for the motifs of improvisation\, the theater of invention\, documentary theatre\, and theater-pedagogical applications through the theatrical motifs and the content of the ancient dramas “Antigone” by Sophocles and “Helen” by Euripides. DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the Greek tongue-twister game “Do you have a rabbit?” and the musicality it generates\, a dancer will pose an existential career question: \n«- Do you have an audition? \n-I have an audition. \n-Do you have a chance?» \nDancing a broken ballet routine whose soundtrack is a surprise to the audience\, the dancer will delve into this thought-provoking question using only her body and a diverse array of dance styles as her instruments. SUMMARY:Local Theatre Movement - SKIES
DESCRIPTION:In a dark room\, an internal\, psychological and heartbreaking dialogue begins between Martha and her dead mother\, Olga. The daughter is haunted\, haunted by the past\, by everything she and her mother wished to experience and failed to do so because of her father’s oppression. The father\, who is not alive either\, appears\, sporadically (in a video wall)\, to monologue and suggest all that he is! Soon\, it seems\, a countdown to death begins\, as the daughter contemplates suicide.  An act that will be thwarted as at the last moment she discovers\, through the forgotten images that come to her memory\, a buried secret about her father. He too is a victim of his own family and his choices\, in a role he did not want\, but they chose for him. \nThis is a play entitled ‘SKIES” which is a Greek word and means “Shadows” in English. This is a play that sheds light on the plight of a young girl who\, along with her mother\, has been the victim of gender violence within their family by her father and husband. At the same time\, it also articulates a reflection on the ongoing oppression\, a result of the patriarchal family that still exists throughout humanity. \nThe Theatre Movement will take place in GRAND HOTEL PALACE\, in Thessaloniki\, on 8th of November\, at 16:00 p.m and it will be open for all.
