His theatrical journey began at the age of seventeen and expanded in Paris\, where he deepened his knowledge of various theatrical techniques\, including cabaret\, mime\, grammelot\, and visual/puppetry theater. \nIn 2011\, his book Teatro di liberazione was published by Edizioni La Meridiana\, in which he shared his theatrical knowledge and practices. Renato is also active on social media\, with a presence on Facebook\, Instagram\, and TikTok\, where he shares updates on his performances and artistic projects. \nHis work spans theater\, cinema\, and television\, with a strong commitment to social causes\, using art as a tool for expression and liberation. \nWorkshop Structure \nThe workshop will focus on three fundamental aspects: \n\nTransmission of Forum Theater Techniques Over two days\, participants will be introduced to the essential techniques for creating Forum Theater performances. This involves staging real-life situations featuring injustice\, followed by audience improvisation aimed at altering the story. This process serves as a “virtual rehearsal” to inspire and prepare for real-world change.\nLive Demonstration A short performance from Renato Curci’s repertoire will be presented as a practical example of the techniques explored.\nExperiential Reflection The workshop will provide an opportunity to reflect on theatrical techniques and direction used during a recent experience in the Medina Gounass neighborhood of Dakar\, conducted in April and May of this year.\n\nThis workshop is open to everyone interested in exploring the power of theater as a means of transformation and collective expression. \nThe event is free of charge and will be held in Italian. \nFor registration: https://forms.gle/RpuXsMzfivz7DjtYA \nFor information: info@e-35.it URL:https://theatreinpalm.eu/event/european-theatre-lab-with-renato-curci/ LOCATION:Fondazione E35\, Via Vicedomini 1\, Reggio Emilia\, 42121\, Italy CATEGORIES:Live event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://theatreinpalm.eu/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/europeantheatreLab.png END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Rome:20250131T170000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Rome:20250131T190000 DTSTAMP:20250530T174201 CREATED:20250131T065050Z LAST-MODIFIED:20250131T065409Z UID:10000531-1738342800-1738350000@theatreinpalm.eu SUMMARY:Theatre Movement: Bites of Watermelon DESCRIPTION:“Morsi d’Anguria” \nWritten by Renato Curci and Hugo Suarez\nPerformed and directed by Renato Curci \nThe performance Bites of Watermelon unfolds through a series of short comic-poetic acts\, built with an original theatrical and visual language. There are no long and elaborate plots\, but rather an intertwining of small episodes that create a subtle moral tension\, fueled by the desire to surprise and convey deep emotions. The goal is as simple as it is ambitious: to offer the audience an experience filled with joy and lightness. \nThe show goes beyond a mere demonstration of skills in figure theater\, pantomime\, and voice use. It is the result of years of study and research in the world of clowning and performing arts\, where creativity is expressed through the transformation of ordinary objects into living characters. A shoe\, a handkerchief\, an apparently insignificant element become tools to explore and reveal hidden aspects of reality and human nature. \nThrough a succession of small wordless stories\, the show invites the audience to enter a timeless universe\, where comedy becomes a key to understanding the beauty of existence. Not an escape from reality\, but a way to rediscover the value of irony and wonder\, especially in an era where daily routines seem to dampen enthusiasm for life. \nBites of Watermelon is a poetic and visual journey that demonstrates how body language can communicate beyond words\, touching deep and universal chords. A theatrical experience capable of renewing a sense of wonder and reminding us that\, even in the most unexpected moments\, a smile is a precious resource. \nThe event is free of charge and will be held in Italian. The date marks the anniversary of the historic declaration in which the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman set out the idea of a new form of political collaboration in Europe\, which would make war between European nations unthinkable. \nIn Reggio Emilia\, Europe Day is celebrated with the organization of an event open to young people from the area to learn about Europe\, experience its opportunities\, get involved and discuss European issues. \nThe theater consortium “Consorzio Balsamico” created a theatrical atelier happening to involve the participants. The founding characteristic of the atelier is exploration: by immersing themselves in an environment/landscape set up by material stimuli and technologies\, the group of participants has free access to a creative experience. This allows the discovery of relationships\, plots\, and interactions that favor the development of symbolic thinking and lateral thinking. \nThere are 4 topics covered\, through different languages: \n– Environmental sustainability and climate change\nStop motion technique\, creation of a material landscape with recycled materials. \n– Conflicts\, peace and war\nUsing sound instruments\, bring the voice to a message. \n– Rights\nMaterial and verbal language\, creating messages of peace. \n– Mobility and freedom of movement\nGraphic and verbal language. How do our boundaries intertwine with those of others? \nConsorzio Balsamico is a theater company founded in 2020 that investigates\, through the tool of the atelier\, creativity in various contexts\, both artistic and non-artistic\, using the exploration of matter and materials as a research ground for creative processes. The protagonist is a tree that speaks to humanity – identified in the public – by addressing environmental issues. After the initial performance\, a live painting will be held by Francesca Ferrari who will transform the words into paintings. \nFrancesco Garuti is an actor and sculptor born in Reggio Emilia. After graduating in agriculture he decided to change course by entering the Nico Pepe Academy in Udine where he graduated in 2019. His latest artistic project “Alberi Comuni” aims to bring together sculpture\, theater and a passion for botany in a journey that investigates the relationship between humans and plants. He currently works on theater projects in Italy and abroad and collaborates regularly with the Mamimò theater center in Reggio Emilia. \nFrancesca Ferrari\, born in Reggio Emilia too\, is a young artist of live painting\, a form of visual performance art in which artists complete a visual art piece in a public performance. The shots were collected through a participatory process\, also thanks to international relations and collaborations in the area. \nThe theme of the photography project is strictly connected with the theme of the Theatre in Palm project\, where the majority of the activities concentrated on sustainability and environmental change. \nThe photographic exhibition will be held during the OFF Circuit of the European Photography Festival in Reggio Emilia. “Fotografia Europea” is an international cultural festival dedicated to contemporary photography\, promoted since 2006 by the Fondazione Palazzo Magnani and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia in collaboration with various public and private cultural institutions at local\, national and international level.
