Come and join the last Digital Coffee of the Theatre in Palm project! \nLink to the Digital Coffee Talk: Noh\, the aliveness of the moment!  \n“During this hour together\, we will begin with a “Journey into Noh\,” familiarize ourselves with key concepts of Noh theater\, and then I will share my personal experience of practicing both Noh and Western theater. I will discuss the main differences I have observed between the two\, keeping one key question in mind: what can we learn from Noh and bring into our local stories and theater? \nMy goal is to give you a true sense of what Noh has meant to me\, sharing my experiences and the aspects that spark my curiosity the most. I would also love to hear your thoughts and discuss perspectives on both Western and Noh theater together. \nSo\, grab a coffee or tea\, and let’s travel together to The Land of Eight Million Gods! \n  \nAbout Noh\nNoh\, the traditional Japanese drama\, combines music\, dance\, and acting. It originated in the 14th century and has been performed for centuries\, passed down from generation to generation. While Western theater focuses on narrative and emotion\, Noh invites us into the presence and freedom from a persona. \nNoh is purely about the aliveness of the moment\, the NOW. As an actor\, you carry no baggage with you except your body and the opportunity to renew yourself each time\, with each dance and each performance. No decoration\, no stage lights. Everyone is visible: to oneself and to others.\n– Notes by Oana Maria Ghiorghilas \nAbout Oana Maria Ghiorghilas\nOana is a passionate traveler and lifelong language learner. A linguist at heart and a language teacher and actress in practice\, she views theater as a universal language that transcends borders and brings together diverse voices. \nHer love for languages and cultures led her to the far North of Europe\, to Sápmi—the land of Norway’s Indigenous peoples—where she began her journey into theater. Since then\, Oana has continued to explore\, learn\, and perform\, and is currently training in the traditional art of Noh theater under the Oe theater in Kyoto. \nOana wants to tell stories. Her aims is to create performances of local stories with the structure of Noh theater and choral songs\, bringing to life the traditions and narratives of the community she calls home.

SUMMARY:Theatre Movement at Konträr: SOM e.t. by Eli Eli
DESCRIPTION:Intercult presents in collaboration with Konträr\, the performance “SOM e.t.” by the artist Eli Eli. On 10 February\, the audience will be invited to a mingle after the performance and have the opportunity to stay and participate in a Q/A led by Intercult about EliEli’s artistry\, international opportunities and the process of the performance. Welcome! \nSOM e.t is a living\, mutating organism\, a dance\, and a concert. It’s a universe built on relationships\, entanglement\, and interweaving. This performance searches for the softness that disrupt borders and creates space for imagining territories of kinships. It seeks for connection and to allow the research material to become an entity capable of having its own dreams. Where does the self end\, and where does the world begin? earth seeping out of its pores. \nThree dancers are connected through an electro-acoustic string instrument. As they lean out from each other\, the strings are stretched\, and create resonance for the sound. Here\, the self-selected or forced loneliness and isolation that might characterize our lives\, the perceived encapsulation\, and the individual who is nevertheless always forced to exist in relation to others are questioned. Here we are all porous beings that leak\, affect and are affected by each other and our ecology. \nEli Eli\, is a choreographer and multidisciplinary artist navigating through a field of entanglement\, connection and un-rootedness. They are working with scores of mapping and listening to the gentle pushes of bodies; bodies as in landscapes\, bodies as in matter\, bodies as in beings- how one thing is never separate from another. \nSOM e.t had its premiere at SKOGEN\, Masthuggsterassen in Gothenburg 30th of november 2023 and was created during residencies at Dans I Blekinge\, Riksteatern and Skogen. \nPhoto: Christian Olofsson \nTickets can be purchased via Konträr’s website. \nAbout Konträr:\nKonträr is a venue for contemporary theatre that presents international guest performances\, original pieces and national co-productions among other events within the genre of experimental performing arts.

SUMMARY:Falling softly workshop
DESCRIPTION:The workshop proposed by Alexandra invites you to discover gravity as an invisible structure\, an immaterial surface that can support you on your way to the ground. We can imagine it as a current we can softly navigate\, learning how to organize our bodies so that falling becomes a dance; so that its momentum propels us in a spiraling motion toward the ground; so that landing is not a destination but a springboard for the continuation of movement. \nEach of the two sessions will begin with an Awareness Through Movement lesson using the Feldenkrais Method. During these\, you will be guided to explore simple\, slow movements with the aim of perceiving movement as a process\, observing every stage of it\, and becoming aware of how you sense your body in motion. We will then work with rolling movements (judo rolls) and dynamic inversions (headstands\, handstands\, shoulder stands)\, diving into space with confidence to land on a soft and safe ground. The workshop will take place at the Judo Club Banat hall in the Iosefin District\, on a tatami floor. \nAlexandra Gîrbea is a choreographer recently based in Timișoara\, where she develops artistic and educational projects. She is focused on evolving her dance practice while also crafting a cultural strategy that integrates her knowledge\, intuitions\, and curiosities. She studied at the Budapest Contemporary Dance Academy and is currently studying the Feldenkrais Method in Brussels. Her dance practice has always been strongly influenced by martial arts such as wushu\, tai chi\, aikido\, and capoeira.

SUMMARY:The Body as a Home
DESCRIPTION:The human body is built to be in motion. This is one of the statements made by researchers that opened up new perspectives and horizons for me\, new needs for exploration on a physical and mental level. Through a series of somatic awareness practices inspired by somatic practices and experiential anatomy\, we will gradually connect with our senses\, muscles\, bones and fluids and find ways to probe the psyche and body to create a new language of movement and facilitate self-discovery. Starting from images of human anatomy we will work to broaden our sphere of perception and explore the messages of our body. For me\, this space where I discover internal mechanisms that sometimes seem magical or even surprising has always been a source of revelation and a “home”. I’d like to share with you this feeling of living in your own body\, a feeling that seems to me one of the only accessible resources of grounding and\, why not\, joy\, in the hectic times we live in. \nWe invite you to let yourself be transformed together by the organic inner and outer landscape and to let movement be born from unexpected areas of our self. \n  \nBIO \nCristina Lilienfeld (www.cristinalilienfeld.ro) studied choreography and psychology\, constantly searching for the point where the two disciplines meet. In recent years she has collaborated and continues to work with different choreographers and dancers\, but also with visual artists and musicians\, being part of several interdisciplinary artistic groups. In 2016 she was part of the Dance Roads program through which she traveled to five European countries presenting the show Lay(ers)\, and in 2022 of the Linha de Fuga program which took place in Coimbra\, Portugal. He has collaborated in a multitude of projects with choreographers such as: Cosmin Manolescu\, Valentina de Piante\, Alexandra Bălășoiu\, Mihaela Alexandra Dancs\, Benno Voorham\, Mădălina Dan\, Andreea Novac\, Andreea Belu\, Smaranda Găbudeanu\, Virginia Negru etc.\, with visual artists: Dilmana Yordanova\, Mihaela Kavdanska\, Alina Ușurelu etc.\, musicians: Diana Rotaru\, Irinel Anghel\, Vlaicu Golcea\, Kamer Art\, LeVant\, the Fierbinteanu band.

Whatever doesn’t comply with the new order will be either consumed or annihilated. The people outside of the wall make the only possible choice – they follow the Spirit of the Sea into the waves to search for their new home. There\, in the underwater world\, they can find peace once again. But what happens when the city limits go beyond the borders of the land and into the waters? \nThe project is a part of the Theatre in Palm Residency researching the relationship between art and science. Using the power of myths and ancient storytelling\, it touches upon the topics of biodiversity\, interconnectivity\, and current ecological crises\, showing the invisible threads between the human and the marine ecosystem. It encourages the audience to consider interdependent and symbiotic relations\, inspired by the notion that one cannot live detached from their environment. \nIt is a reflection on possible outcomes not only to respond to ecological threats but also to propose a new imaginary future that is capable of including the rights of human and non-human organisms in the decision-making process. \nArtists in residence:\nAnita Szymańska – A multidisciplinary Polish creator\, Anita blends folk tales with polyphonic singing as she crafts her debut one-woman show.\nEirini Petraki – A Greek-British actress and playwright\, Eirini’s work in experimental theatre and children’s performances has earned recognition from the UN.\nEllen Finnerty – Irish artist and performer Ellen merges physical theatre with language exploration and is co-founder of Dublin’s Bluehouse Theatre.\nMarcos Mereles – A London-based filmmaker\, Marcos’s debut feature premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and has been celebrated across global festivals.\nSabine Neilande – Latvian contemporary dance artist Sabine fuses dance with thought-provoking themes\, consistently pushing the limits of her art. \nCurators:\nAlessia Gervasone (Espronceda) & Elisabetta Broglio (ICM – CSIC) \nCommunication:\nMalena Vinay\nMaria Rubies Vistuer \nProduction and Graphic:\nMilo de Prieto\nLiza Adamchuk \nThe program is developed in collaboration with:\nThe Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM – CSIC)\, Barcelona\nThe Art Centre La Panera of Lleida.\nChristian Alonso PhD\nThe research group Art\, Globalization and Interculturality of the University of Barcelona. SUMMARY:Treplev's Integral Performance - Workshop
DESCRIPTION:“Treplev’s Integral Performance” invites young professional actors\, as well as actors with stage experience and high school students who  are considering a career in acting and attend a theater college. The workshop is organized by Homemade Culture Association (Bucharest)\, in partnership with the independent theatre company Arte-Factum\, in the framework of European Theatre Lab by the  Theatre in Palm platform financed by Creative Europe. \n  \nTime and place\n11 October 2024\, 17:30- 21:30\nCentre of Culture and Art of Timis County\, room 34 (Timisoara\, str. E.Ungureanu nr.1). \n  \nWorkshop\nWe will explore the “theater-within-theater” moment in Chekhov’s The Seagull\, with a focus on Nina’s monologue written by Treplev\, and work on the actor-director relationship. \nThe workshop introduces actors to creative warm-up\, they will learn techniques that help actors get into a state of readiness\, they will analyze the text creatively to understand the intimate springs of the mechanism by which the previous situation influences the interpretation of the monologue and the following situation. \nDivided into groups\, the actors will direct their own monologue of Nina\, techniques that develop the creativity of actors will be practiced and original approach will be encouraged. \n  \nDirector\nThe workshop will be held by the director Levente Kocsàrdi\, as an initial stage for a show with the same title that he will stage next year: “We are especially interested in the tension between the two characters\, Treplev and Nina\, who are young artists\, at the beginning of their journey with new\, original ideas and well set\, conservative\, skeptical of everything new\, like the characters Arkadina and Trigorin.” \nLevente Kocsàrdi has 26 years of stage experience as an actor and director. He is the stage director of the independent company Arte-Factum and has been directing Arte-Factum Theatrical Research and Introspection Laboratory for eight years now\, which has involved more than 100 young actors and has produced several relevant independent theater productions.

DESCRIPTION:EMOTION BLENDER\nFriday 10 May 2024\nFrom 18.30 until 22.00\nEspronceda Institute of Art and Culture is honored to host this one-night workshop event (European Theatre Lab) of the evocative installation Emotion Blender in the contest of the EU project Theater in Palm & the IMMENSIVA Festival. A live event that uses the facial expressions of participants to create digital “art”  generated by an AI facial recognition program. The process reads one participant at a time to fill the wall with how the AI is interpreting “reading” their expressions. The event is open\, especially to performance art artists who want to experiment with new technologies. \nAbout The Artists\nJuliana and Andrey VRADY are multimedia artists based in Germany. Andrey has been an artistic director of leading print and advertising companies for many years. He is keen on undertaking experiments with photography\, making digital collages\, and finding new aesthetics in the new media. Juliana\, his other half\, comes from the film industry. The duo has achieved several milestones in interactive works and is still developing further. DESCRIPTION:  \nESPRONCEDA – Institute of Art & Culture\, the INSTITUT DE CIÈNCIES DEL MAR EMBIMOS Research Group (ICM-CSIC) of Barcelona and the INERVO COMPANY are pleased to announce the beginning of a new collaboration that will take its first steps from May 2 to 4\, 2024\, and that will take the form of an interdisciplinary event of art and science called LuzLíquida. \nLuzLíquida is developed in the framework of THEATRE IN PALM\, a European platform\, which brings together 12 partners from all over Europe to collaborate in the promotion and support of emerging artists in the field of performing and performing arts. This platform\, of which Espronceda is a partner\, aims to be an open and intercultural space for the performing arts that allows the circulation of artists and the promotion of innovative projects beyond European borders. \nOCEÁNIDA: is a medium-small format show created by the Inervo Company on environmental awareness\, which has the first biodegradable\, water-soluble scenography and sustainable LED lighting. \n17:30 – 19:30h Round table and presentation of the results of the creation process _ performance (Participants: selected artists\, Institut de Ciències del Mar\, Compañía Inervo\, Espronceda) \n21:30h Performance by OCEÁNIDA https://vimeo.com/305729490 \nSYNOPSIS\nThrough a suggestive and poetic journey to the depths of the sea\, the public lives a dreamlike and didactic experience that shows the consequences of waste production. Everything is developed in an interdisciplinary language that combines the concepts of dance\, theater and installations. The piece as a whole plays with light and darkness\, allowing the audience to approach the bioluminescence of the creatures of the seabed through the costumes and the movement of the dancers\, which creates a mysterious and enveloping atmosphere. \nARTISTIC CONCEPT\nThe core of the Inervo Company’s artistic language is interdisciplinary research in which dance\, theater\, performance and installation work together to develop the company’s own language. \nThey focus on topics such as ecology\, feminism and science. Inervo creates dreamlike performances on the border between the dystopian and the real that lead us to reflect on relevant contemporary issues. Most of the material used in his scenographies tries to respect as much as possible the principles of sustainability in order to reduce the possible environmental impact. In the case of Oceanida\, for example\, the research carried out in the field of lighting and the work that has been done to apply it to the costumes\, with the aim of creating sustainable lighting generated by the performers themselves\, can be considered of particular relevance. P.\nSOME OTHER PLACE\nPerformance by the artist Sara Sguotti\nDATE: 29/02/2024\nH: 20.30\nLOCATION: Espronceda\, Institute of Art & Culture \nThe performance is presented in the framework of the European project Theatre in Palm. \n  \nSYNOPSIS\nThis new choreographic creation tries to identify the forms of the relationship betwee performer\, space\, and imagination\, trying to lead the viewer on a journey into the density of matter and at the same time into a perceptive and imaginative elsewhere. \n  \nThe dancing body is positioned in an empty\, passable space\, a space that becomes intimate\, and changeable\, in continuous adaptation along a labyrinthine and powerful movement. The dancer’s gaze opens to the image\, some other place\, and reverberates in Spartaco Cortesi’s live music score. \n  \nThe choreographic device leads to a body that is surprised by the movement and is surprised\, distant but present in an inconsistent but visionary space. The performer offers a look that seeks a hyper-reality\, involving and leading the passenger’s spectators in an empathic process between reminiscence and prediction. DESCRIPTION:Inspired by the Greek tongue-twister game “Do you have a rabbit?” and the musicality it generates\, a dancer will pose an existential career question: \n«- Do you have an audition? \n-I have an audition. \n-Do you have a chance?» \nDancing a broken ballet routine whose soundtrack is a surprise to the audience\, the dancer will delve into this thought-provoking question using only her body and a diverse array of dance styles as her instruments.
