SUMMARY:Digital Coffee Talk 7: Meaning making in storytelling and performance
DESCRIPTION:Theatre\, at its core\, is communication with one quintessential goal- to stir the captive audience with a wet splash of motionless movement\, sift the topsoil of their hearts\, and finally plant in the moist furrows of their minds\, a seed of undeniable transformation and inviolate change. \nIn this Digital Coffee Talk\, we will explore the constraints and freedoms of curating performances and devising theatre that generates a new meaning and topicality. As this is a joint process between the audience and performers\, how does one plan or strategise for a specific outcome involving the former\, an unknown element till showtime? Are there universal thresholds of meaning that a theatrical performer can access cutting across cultural barriers and if so\, are there rules for adapting a performance\, both responsively and responsibly\, as customised for both local actors and audience? We will explore these questions by contextualizing the theatrical process as a Bohmian dialogue between performer\, story and the audience and see if this language throws up new ways of looking at performative impact. DESCRIPTION:Time: 22.2.2023 at 12-16 CET\nPlace: Bucharest \nWorkshop of discussions and exercises about the work with and within  vulnerable communities (note: the term can be interpreted and constantly redefined very widely and differently) – from artistic interventions to co-organization of autonomous communities where socially engaged community artists get to co-ordinate medium and long term projects and operate beyond a series of fixed and outside controlled projects\, with limited resources. \nWe will start from real and imagined examples to see how theater as a tool of “social design” can bring multiple benefits and social realms to diverse communities\, and we will play with a series of exercises that can be framed within a broader theme: theater applied outside the institutionalized artistic space. \nWorkshop is led by film and theatre actress Katia Pascariu.

The method of “Scream” is based on the biggest problem that drama teachers face all the time. Making the young people that are trying to get involved with acting to loosen up and free themselves from themselves. \nThis method drives the actors into a path of getting out of themselves leaving the pure being of them ready to embrace and be a character. DESCRIPTION:Theatre in Palm\, international project funded by Creative Europe\, is hosting a digital residency on 6–10 February 2023. \nThe project will later host two more residencies during the 3-year-project. \nThe residency is aimed at emerging theatre artists\, such as \n\nTheatre or performing arts students\,\nrecent graduates (0-5 years)\,\npeople interested in gaining new professional competences and making new openings in the field of performing arts\,\nother newcomers in the field of professional theatre.\n\nEach participating emerging artist will be paid a 150-400 € grant. \nThe content of the digital residency\nThe theme of the residency is ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. The impulse material and starting point for collaboration in residency work is: \n\nAntigone -play and in particular the study of the moral contradictions of the characters in the play of Sophocles\nOpening Speech of António GUTERRES (U.N. Secretary-General) in the climate conference Egypt on 7th of November 2022\nas well as chosen object important to emerging artist oneself that symbolizes a value or a thing that you do not want to lose\n\nThe selected emerging artists for the residency will receive a pre-task well in advance of the start of the residency. DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the Dutch National Theater Weekend 2023\, ZID is organizing a long weekend full of performances! On Friday 27 January visitors can enjoy “The Alphabet of Uncertain Times”\, a rough\, witty and energetic performance\, with a video installation and a discussion afterwards. On Saturday 28 January\, Naïma Baraka will play her solo performance Rebel with singer/songwriters beforehand and a discussion afterwards. SUMMARY:European Theatre Lab: Vladimir Bouchler Master Class “Interdisciplinary Dialogue method”
DESCRIPTION:Intercult invites all interested performing artists to a unique opportunity to participate in a one- or two-day character workshop on 17.-18.1.2023 in Stockholm. \nThe Master Class is led by a well-known and experienced theater educator\, Professor Vladimir Bouchler – Artistic Director of the European Theater and Film Institute and educator of acting and directing in theater and film\, with a long track record of working with famous actors in and outside of Europe. \nThe workshop will focus on how to physically embody character and work with style and space. The unique method\n“Interdisciplinary Dialogue” is based on a combination of: \n\nTheater techniques developed by\, among others\, Mikhail Chekhov and Etienne\nDecroux.\nBrilliant discoveries of 20th century psychology studies.\nApplication of Fine Art analyze while creating a style of performance.\n\nMore detailed information about this Master class can be found in Intercult web page for the event.
