Landscapes of the Soul – where theatre and visual art collide

Landscapes of the Soul was an event presented by Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality as part of the launch of an exhibition of the same name. The exhibition showcased work by artists Mary Moynihan and Hina Khan featuring visual art, photography, poetry and film mapping physical landscapes of nature to landscapes of the soul reflecting on ways to hold on to the courage to be who we truly are and to let ourselves shine. As part of this event, artist Hina Khan gave a talk on the intersectionality between visual arts practice and theatre practice, having recently begun exploring the link between visual arts and theatre after a 6-day experience in Italy where she took part in an immersive theatre devising workshop. Hina’s talk was followed by a performance by artist Lisa McLoughlin-Gnemmi.
The event was open to members of the public to attend, as well as specific invited emerging theatre artists and visual artists. This created an atmosphere of curiosity and exploration in the space, and sparked conversations between the emerging artists, visual artists, and the general public.
