Telling Stories: Solidarity Through the Years

Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality facilitated a workshop over two days as part of the National Women’s Council of Ireland’s All-Island Women’s Forum. This theatre lab brought together women from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to discuss and explore issues facing women today. Women’s voices continue to be marginalised in peace building and decision-making forums. The All-Island Women’s Forum seeks to bring women together to continue creating better understanding, providing a platform for dialogue and developing collaborative understandings of our shared island challenges and opportunities for progressive and peaceful social change.
As part of the forum, Mary Moynihan Artistic Director of Smashing Times International Centre for the Arts and Equality facilitated an exploratory theatre lab with emerging artists from communities north and south of the border. The workshop was based on the theme ‘Telling Stories: Solidarity Through the Years’, which enabled participants to explore commonalities in their lived experiences using drama methodology developed by Smashing Times.
