Theatre in Palm as Interdisciplinary Connector

My name is Corina, I am a social worker, and I work in a public center for social action. For several years I was a socio-cultural animator.

During the Theatre in Palm Academy in Lisbon the proposed activities were very interesting and innovative. The fact of having participated allowed me to see, learn and put into practice what I had observed. The methodology that was used (that of the group) allowed everyone to get to know each other and encouraged participation by highlighting the group. Of course, the activities can be done individually too. We had the pleasure of being supervised by professionals from the world of theater and this allowed me to see the reality on the ground. The performances seen allowed me to learn more, like bringing a play to real life or transforming it into a game.

But what I especially appreciate is that it tells us about real life… and that we are quickly transported into this world… the world of theatre.

I realized that this world is fabulous, a real discovery for me. All the activities seen and practiced can be put into practice with children (given that I work with them)

1. Puppets – creation of puppets by children

2. theater – creation of a theater piece (inspired by real life or a hobby…)

3. or design- during the presentation of the seminar we had to create a setting of a given story (this can very well be set up with the children to be able to develop their creativity…) harmonization of the human environment, or the design of everyday objects.

The exchange between all of us when we were from different cultures allowed us to learn, to transmit know-how, or to exchange our experiences. Precisely this cultural difference meant that we all had one thing in common: the culture! in all its aspects. This experience allowed me to have an enormous richness in my projects. With the multitude of ideas that these seminars have brought me now I can create, develop, transmit and share and enhance educational and cultural methods.

I enjoyed working for ETFI and being by your side.
