TIP from Cyprus: Emerged – A Theatrical Exploration of Love, Family, and Adolescence at the Stockholm Fringe Festival via the Intercult TIP Academy

As a result of the amazing collaboration of Intercult and the Stockholm Fringe Festival, the THOC participants of the Theatre in Palm Academy,  got the wonderful opportunity to showcase their theatre production Emerged at the Stockholm Fringe Festival 2024. This collaboration was a key initiative within Theatre in Palm (TIP), providing a unique opportunity for theatre professionals to come together, engage in creative workshops, and present their work to an international audience.

The Theatre in Palm Academy served as a platform for the Cyprus team to deepen their artistic practices while connecting with other European theatre makers. During their time in Stockholm, they participated in enriching discussions and training, culminating in a performance at the Stockholm Fringe Festival.

About the Show: Emerged, adapted from the Greek classic novel Anadyomeni by Grigorios Xenopoulos, explores universal themes of love, family, and the complexities of adolescence. Set against the backdrop of the island of Zakynthos in 2020, the play follows three friends—Anthi, Andreas, and Andreas—who, after being quarantined in an old mansion, are mysteriously transported back to the 19th century by a strange “earthquake.” They meet historical figures, including Countess Clailia and the Memaropoulos brothers, Pavlos and Denis, and become embroiled in a passionate love triangle filled with eroticism, mystery, and humor. As their emotional journey unfolds, they are forced to confront their deepest instincts and navigate the dangerous consequences of their choices.
