TIP in Italy – Reimagining theatre: a European dialogue through art

Marco Maccieri, the artistic director of MaMiMò Theatre Centre, shares the company’s experience in the Theatre in Palm project, where they have been invovled by E35 Foundation, reveiling how it has represented a unique opportunity to connect with other European countries, open new perspectives, and challenge the boundaries of theater in Italy.
The project, which has turned into a true research journey, has sparked deep reflections on the role of theater, especially as a tool to create a shared European culture: an identity that likely already exists but is hard to see, as we tend to focus more on what sets us apart. Collaborating with artists from different countries has revealed points of connection, a kind of inherent “sisterhood” that transcends language barriers and local theatrical practices.
Those involved in theater often explore contemporary themes, aiming to provoke, challenge, and stimulate critical thinking not only in the actors but also in the audience. Even technology, often seen as a tool of detachment, has helped to expand and better communicate the message, raising the participants’ awareness of their artistic identity in a broader European context.
