Their role in aquatic ecosystems\, especially marine ecosystems\, is essential\, as among other things they contribute to oxygen production\, carbon absorption and cloud formation. This experimental project\, the result of a collaboration between the Marine Sciences Institute (CSIC)\, Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture\, and the Inervo Company\, aims to make the invisible visible and explore through different performative audiovisual expressions the interconnection between the human and non-human worlds. The project highlights the need for dialogue between science and art for the creation of new narratives. \nThis project is framed within the interuniversity program PETRI-MED\, which analyzes the impact of this element in its immediate context\, and the European project THEATER IN PALM\, which promotes international and intercultural collaboration for new performative artistic languages. Whatever doesn’t comply with the new order will be either consumed or annihilated. The people outside of the wall make the only possible choice – they follow the Spirit of the Sea into the waves to search for their new home. There\, in the underwater world\, they can find peace once again. But what happens when the city limits go beyond the borders of the land and into the waters? \nThe project is a part of the Theatre in Palm Residency researching the relationship between art and science. Using the power of myths and ancient storytelling\, it touches upon the topics of biodiversity\, interconnectivity\, and current ecological crises\, showing the invisible threads between the human and the marine ecosystem. It encourages the audience to consider interdependent and symbiotic relations\, inspired by the notion that one cannot live detached from their environment. \nIt is a reflection on possible outcomes not only to respond to ecological threats but also to propose a new imaginary future that is capable of including the rights of human and non-human organisms in the decision-making process. \nArtists in residence:\nAnita Szymańska – A multidisciplinary Polish creator\, Anita blends folk tales with polyphonic singing as she crafts her debut one-woman show.\nEirini Petraki – A Greek-British actress and playwright\, Eirini’s work in experimental theatre and children’s performances has earned recognition from the UN.\nEllen Finnerty – Irish artist and performer Ellen merges physical theatre with language exploration and is co-founder of Dublin’s Bluehouse Theatre.\nMarcos Mereles – A London-based filmmaker\, Marcos’s debut feature premiered at the BFI London Film Festival and has been celebrated across global festivals.\nSabine Neilande – Latvian contemporary dance artist Sabine fuses dance with thought-provoking themes\, consistently pushing the limits of her art. \nCurators:\nAlessia Gervasone (Espronceda) & Elisabetta Broglio (ICM – CSIC) \nCommunication:\nMalena Vinay\nMaria Rubies Vistuer \nProduction and Graphic:\nMilo de Prieto\nLiza Adamchuk \nThe program is developed in collaboration with:\nThe Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM – CSIC)\, Barcelona\nThe Art Centre La Panera of Lleida.\nChristian Alonso PhD\nThe research group Art\, Globalization and Interculturality of the University of Barcelona. This platform\, of which Espronceda is a partner\, aims to be an open and intercultural space for the performing arts that allows the circulation of artists and the promotion of innovative projects beyond European borders. \nOCEÁNIDA: is a medium-small format show created by the Inervo Company on environmental awareness\, which has the first biodegradable\, water-soluble scenography and sustainable LED lighting. \n17:30 – 19:30h Round table and presentation of the results of the creation process _ performance (Participants: selected artists\, Institut de Ciències del Mar\, Compañía Inervo\, Espronceda) \n21:30h Performance by OCEÁNIDA https://vimeo.com/305729490 \nSYNOPSIS\nThrough a suggestive and poetic journey to the depths of the sea\, the public lives a dreamlike and didactic experience that shows the consequences of waste production. Everything is developed in an interdisciplinary language that combines the concepts of dance\, theater and installations. The piece as a whole plays with light and darkness\, allowing the audience to approach the bioluminescence of the creatures of the seabed through the costumes and the movement of the dancers\, which creates a mysterious and enveloping atmosphere. \nARTISTIC CONCEPT\nThe core of the Inervo Company’s artistic language is interdisciplinary research in which dance\, theater\, performance and installation work together to develop the company’s own language. \nThey focus on topics such as ecology\, feminism and science. Inervo creates dreamlike performances on the border between the dystopian and the real that lead us to reflect on relevant contemporary issues. Most of the material used in his scenographies tries to respect as much as possible the principles of sustainability in order to reduce the possible environmental impact. In the case of Oceanida\, for example\, the research carried out in the field of lighting and the work that has been done to apply it to the costumes\, with the aim of creating sustainable lighting generated by the performers themselves\, can be considered of particular relevance. In addition\, the scenography uses biodegradable and water-soluble materials\, thanks to the collaboration with Green Cycles. \nLuzLíquida CREDITS\nARTISTIC LABORATORY CREATED AND DIRECTED BY: Benjamín Salvutzky\, Carlotta Storelli \nSCIENTIFIC LABORATORY CREATED AND DIRECTED BY: Marco Talone\, Vanessa Balagué\, Magda Vila\, Elisabetta Broglio \nCOMMISSIONED BY: Alessia Gervasone \nGRAPHIC DESIGN: Liza Adamchuk \nPRODUCTION: Milo de Prieto \nADMINISTRATION: Maria Mantzakou \nINTERNSHIP COLLABORATOR: Malena Vinay Cano \nOCEÁNIDA ARTISTIC AND TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS\nORIGINAL IDEA AND DRAMATURGY: Carlotta Storelli \nCREATION: Collective \nDIRECTION: David Pouillanges \nCHOREOGRAPHY: Carlotta Storelli \nTECHNIQUE AND SCENOGRAPHY: David Pouillanges \nPERFORMERS: Denis Lavie and Carlotta Storelli \nMUSIC: Jan Hugo Saabye \nCLOTHING: Monica Cañete URL:https://theatreinpalm.eu/event/luzliquida-another-way-of-perceiving-relationships/ LOCATION:Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture\, C. de Espronceda\, 326\, Nave 4 y 5\, Barcelona\, 08027\, Spain CATEGORIES:Live event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://theatreinpalm.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/1-2.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Helsinki:20240229T203000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Helsinki:20240229T213000 DTSTAMP:20250530T174405 CREATED:20240304T111746Z LAST-MODIFIED:20240304T111746Z UID:10000061-1709238600-1709242200@theatreinpalm.eu SUMMARY:S . The dancer’s gaze opens to the image\, some other place\, and reverberates in Spartaco Cortesi’s live music score. \n  \nThe choreographic device leads to a body that is surprised by the movement and is surprised\, distant but present in an inconsistent but visionary space. The performer offers a look that seeks a hyper-reality\, involving and leading the passenger’s spectators in an empathic process between reminiscence and prediction. In the choreographic writing\, lightness\, disorientation\, vitality\, and carnality emerge\, a fragile and athletic body that acts in search of coordinates\, and aims at escaping one’s spirit\, through a private\, feminine language and narration that involves the viewer. \n  \nCREDITS\nConcept e choreography: Sara Sguotti\nLive music: Spartaco Cortesi with Sara Sguotti \nArtistic consultancy and dramaturgic advice: Elena Giannotti\nLight and set design: Mattia Bagnoli\nVoice: Julie Bergez\nCoproduction Interplay Festival with the support of Armunia/Festival InEquilibrio\, Atelier delle Arti\, Cango\nS.O.P. is a production of Perypezye Urbane artistic development of Some Other Place created with the support of Company Blu. Equipped with an antenna\, it receives the frequencies that are around it\, allowing it to interact with the environment. The radio frequencies are digitally decoded into sounds that I use as raw material\, generating a live piece that becomes experimental electronics. Oscillating between ambient and techno\, they invite deep and introspective listening. \nRadiorator was born with a premise inspired by the cultural and intellectual movement “transhumanism” which is based on the philosophy that we can transform and expand the human condition using technology. More specifically we focus on the human senses and how to expand their capacity of perception. \nRadio frequencies are part of an environment that constantly passes through us but are invisible and inaudible. Through the technology included in the helmet\, the human being can feel the invisible radio energy that is around him in the form of sound to generate in turn an auditory interpretation and turn it into an artistic expression\, a performative and sonorous act. The helmet is a portable device that captures radio waves (electromagnetic waves from 3 to 300 Gh) and converts them into sound and image. This wearable uses an antenna and a Raspberry to convert analog signals into digital ones. The radio frequencies are picked up by the antenna and then digitally decoded into sound and images through SDR (software-defined radio) technology. \nMorphologically following the guidelines of the constructivist movement\, which proposes three-dimensionality as the main axis and geometric rigor\, the design of the helmet takes a semi-circular module that is repeated in a scaled way around a concentric axis. The main intention is to represent in form the expansive effect of sound waves. \nFor the materialization of the helmet\, 3D printing technology was used. The final piece is constructed by means of modules and a fitting system between the helmet and the geometry that emerges from it. \nWhen: 26.10.2023 at 20.00 local time in Spain \nWhere: Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture URL:https://theatreinpalm.eu/event/local-event-radiorator-by-agustina-palazzo/ LOCATION:Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture\, C. de Espronceda\, 326\, Nave 4 y 5\, Barcelona\, 08027\, Spain CATEGORIES:Live event ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://theatreinpalm.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/ba4f5f6f-radiator2-819x1024-1.jpg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Helsinki:20230526T193000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Helsinki:20230526T210000 DTSTAMP:20250530T174405 CREATED:20230529T104904Z LAST-MODIFIED:20231102T122101Z UID:10000001-1685129400-1685134800@theatreinpalm.eu SUMMARY:HUMANVERSE - New ecosystems of the web3 between performing arts\, technology and post-human DESCRIPTION:The Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture in Barcelona will host the presentation of artist Martin Romeo’s “Humanverse” project\, winner of the Italian Council (11th edition\, 2022) on May 26th\, 2023. \nHumanverse is a project that visually reflects on the themes and tools of recent years\, in which the metaverse and artificial intelligence have exponentially increased information\, creating new imaginaries and communities of inhabitants. Martin has worked on themes of synthetic corporeality\, performativity in virtual spaces\, artificial ecosystems\, and digitalized biological and organic forms. \nDuring the presentation\, Martin will showcase the research projects he has developed on the Metaverse made on Spatial\, as well as elaborations made primarily through prompts\, using various platforms such as Stable Diffusion and Runway. Through the use of virtual reality headsets\, the audience will be able to enter these environments and share a unique\, participatory\, and immersive experience. \nHumanverse continues online following the artist’s instagram page where it is possible to consult the developments of the research and the final rest tution of the project in November 2023 at the Etopia Center for Art and Technology in Zaragoza. The artist will present the conclusions of the research project through various visual and physical experiences both with the headsets and with the building facade of the art center. \nThe Barcelona event represents an extraordinary opportunity to connect with new forms of artistic creation that combine technology and performance and to reflect on the dynamics involved in generating audiovisual content. \nThe artist \nMartin Romeo is an Italian-Argentine visual artist who explores the relationship between nature and technology through various mediums\, including dynamic sculptures\, VR performances\, and multimedia installations. His research enables him to interpret and intimately perceive the world\, dividing his production into tangible and intangible works. Tangible works give shape to data\, while intangible works return data in the form of experiences. \nMartin is the coordinator of the MA in Visual Arts in the Digital Age at IED\, lecturer at NABA in Milan and is represented by Reasoned Art – a digital art gallery.\nhttps://www.instagram.com/martromeo/ \nWhen: 26 May 2023 \nWhere: Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture\, Carrer D’Espronceda 326 Nave 5\, Barcelona \nThe event is free of charge and is held in English/Spanish. \nMore information: https://www.espronceda.net URL:https://theatreinpalm.eu/event/humanverse-new-ecosystems-of-the-web3-between-performing-arts-technology-and-post-human/ LOCATION:Espronceda Institute of Art & Culture\, C. de Espronceda\, 326\, Nave 4 y 5\, Barcelona\, 08027\, Spain CATEGORIES:Webinar ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://theatreinpalm.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/95ef6b7a-humanverse-social-1024x640-1.jpeg END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Helsinki:20230324T203000 DTEND;TZID=Europe/Helsinki:20230324T220000 DTSTAMP:20250530T174405 CREATED:20231115T104945Z LAST-MODIFIED:20231115T104945Z UID:10000030-1679689800-1679695200@theatreinpalm.eu SUMMARY:Local event: CiCLIC Live AV performance by ÍNFIM DESCRIPTION:Place: Espronced Studio\, Carrer D’Espronceda 326 Nave 4\,5 & 10\, 08027 Barcelona\, Spain \nPROGRAM\nFrom 20.30 to 21.00 Presentation of INFIM’s performance and artistic research. \nFrom 21.00 to 22.00 Live Audio Visual performance \nDuring the event\, the audience will have the opportunity to experience a performance characterized by interconnected lights and sounds generated in real time. This performance analyzes the essence of the sound associated with the primary colors of the light spectrum and how these\, combined\, are able to alter the visual perception of the spectator. The performance presented would like to open a broader reflection on the introduction of new digital technologies also in the theatrical field and how they can act as a support in creating multimedia\, live and unique scenographies. \nINTRODUCING\nÍNFIM is a project by the audiovisual artist and creative coder Ferran Belmon. His works take many forms\, including installations\, projections\, and performances.  He uses a wide range of tools and technologies to experiment with light\, sound and space in order to create unique and innovative artworks. \nCíCLIC is a live AV that explores how the interaction of simple frequencies become complex behaviors and how these transform the space\, provoking emotions in the attendees. The visual research starts from the own nature of light from a minimalist look through laser light. This light\, monochromatic and with a narrow beam\, represents the minimum expression of light despite its technical complexity: a point and a color. Similarly\, sound research emphasizes the same intent by using only pure tones. These synthetic sounds allow us to capture the physical properties of sound and its link with light and space. The succession and movement of these two tiny elements generates different effects\, colors and geometric patterns. Chaos and harmony reflected in the space with an aesthetic sense and allegorical potential.
