SUMMARY:Local Theatre Movement - Teaching Ancient Greek tragedy and comedy
DESCRIPTION:Teaching Ancient Greek tragedy and comedy\, based on student experience.\nGeorgina Kakoudaki\, a renowned Theater researcher and Director comes from Athens especially for these workshops. \nTwo days of theater practice workshops\, which will be developed in three stages. Workshops are independent and with different subjects (someone can attend only one or both): \nSATURDAY 10 AM-6 PM:\nThe theory: a theoretical approach to how ancient drama is historically performed by professionals and in school theater. Convergences\, divergences\, and dilemmas. \nTragedy: search for the motifs of improvisation\, the theater of invention\, documentary theatre\, and theater-pedagogical applications through the theatrical motifs and the content of the ancient dramas “Antigone” by Sophocles and “Helen” by Euripides. SUMMARY:European Theatre Lab: From Emerging to Established and Sustainable Theatre Makers - workshop by Dr Aleksandar Brkić
DESCRIPTION:Workshop organised by THOC in Nicosia\, Cyprus\nTime: 19\, 20 & 21 May 2023\nPlace: THOC building\, New Stage\, Nicosia\nLanguage: English \nEvery year more and more theatre practitioners are graduating in Cyprus\, UK\, Europe\, US and all over the world. They go back home (wherever the home is) and get confronted with questions from their friends\, parents\, partners – what are you planning to do now? How are you going to make a living as a theatre maker? Could you have done something more useful in/with your life? Prior to joining Goldsmiths\, Aleksandar was a lecturer and researcher at LASALLE College of the Arts\, Singapore and University of Arts in Belgrade. Together with Audrey Wong\, he was a coordinator of Asia Pacific Network for Cultural Education and Research (ANCER)\, the first network of its kind in the region of Asia Pacific. His area of professional practice is arts management with significant international experience as creative producer working in the intersections of performing arts\, visual arts and design. He worked as a theatre producer/manager with number of inspiring theatre organizations (i.e. YUSTAT and BITEF) and artists\, including Josef Nadj\, Dragan Stojcevski\, Jelena Bogavac. Aleksandar is currently working as a creative producer of LP Duo from Belgrade. \n  \nThe workshop is co-funded by the European Union through the Theatre in Palm platform and by Cyprus Theatre Organisation. SUMMARY:European Theatre Lab: Contemporary theatrical practices of empowerment and cooperative education
DESCRIPTION:CYPRUS THEATRE ORGANISATION in collaboration with the Cyprus Center of Theatre for Children and Youth–Assitej Cyprus\, organize the European Theatre Lab with Sofia Vgenopoulou\, for educators\, group leaders and theatre professionals. \nWhere: THOC New Stage\nWhen: March 25th 2023 (14:00 – 17:00) & March 26th 2023 (10:00 – 13:00) \nIn the first collaboration of the two organisations\, THOC has embraced a proposal by the Cyprus Center for Children and youth – Assitej Cyprus to co-organise the European Theatre Lab supporting emerging artists\, for teachers\, group leaders and theatre professionals under the guidance of Sofia Vgenopoulou\, director and child psychiatrist\, who is in charge of the Little National of Greece\, the theatre workshops and social programmes of the National Theatre of Greece. \nThe two day workshop will concentrate at contemporary theatrical practices of empowerment and cooperative education. It will draw from the principles and techniques of Theater in Education\, from Applied Theater techniques\, with the aim of getting to know the theater of invention and ensemble techniques better. The goal\, through participatory learning methods\, is for the participants to be able to proceed with the practical application of the taught methodologies\, promoting aesthetic education\, experiential learning and social activation. \nThe workshop will be held in Greek at the New stage of THOC and is organised under the actions of Theatre in Palm Theatre in Palm.
