A Village Festival with a Twist: “Miss Cherry is looking for a grandma”
Dobralak, Bulgaria
More than fifty residents and visitors flocked to the charming village of Dobralak in the Kuklen Municipality in Bulgaria this past August, to see the lively performance of “Miss Cherry is looking for a grandma“. This unique event, organised by the “Discovered Spaces Association” with artist Ivelina Ivanova in collaboration with OECON Group Bulgaria, was the opening act for Dobralak’s yearly village festival.
The playful and participatory performance, which took place in the town square, starred Miss Cherry, a lovable figure who is searching for the ideal grandma to prepare meals for her. Miss Cherry, known for her grand ambitions and playful persona, entertained the audience with her antics as she roamed the village, sharing stories of her “near-perfect” life. Her search was filled with comedic moments and delightful surprises, with Miss Cherry even trying her hand at magic to impress potential grandmothers.
The event was a huge hit, particularly among children, who laughed and cheered as Miss Cherry worked her way through her hilarious and sometimes outlandish requirements for her ideal grandmother. The performance culminated in a heart-warming moment when Miss Cherry finally found her “grandma” among the audience.
The mix of humour, local culture, and community spirit made “Miss Cherry is Looking for a grandma” a memorable experience for everyone. It was not just an entertaining performance, but also a celebration of the vibrant traditions and stories that continue to shape Dobralak’s unique character.
