Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement concerns the theatreinpalm.eu website, executed with the WordPress publishing system.

The main administrator of the website, Theatre in Palm project team of the Turku University of Applied Sciences (Finland), is committed to improve the accessibility of the online service, until the end of the current project period (5/2025).

Preparing this accessibility statement

This accessibility statement has been prepared on 21 November 2023.

The accessibility of the service has been evaluated by the website provider Nitro Oy. In the evaluation, the usability and functions of the theatreinpalm.eu website were compared with the EU’s Web Accessibility Directive and how they meet the requirements set by levels A and AA in the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines).

Status of accessibility of the digital service

As an entity, the accessibility of theatreinpalm.eu website meets the requirements for the most part. The user is, for example, able to:

  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or a screen reader.
  • zoom in without text spilling off the screen.
  • change colors and contrast levels using browser or device settings.
  • use the website with different devices.

The website:

  • is responsive.
  • uses a color theme with sufficient contrast.
  • has a logical structure and follows semantical structure.
  • has alternative descriptions of images.
  • uses readable fonts, appropriate font sizes, and sufficient color contrast between text and background.
  • has a clear and consistent navigation structure throughout the website.
  • functionality can be accessed and operated using a keyboard.
  • assistive technologies should be able to announce form fields and their purpose clearly.

Non-accessible content

Our website does not yet meet the requirements in all respects. Such content is:

  • Infographics and other illustrations: all pictures on the website do not have alt text.
  • Video presentations: some of the videos visible on the website lack subtitles.
  • Files: all files on the website are not accessible, such as PDF-documents.
  • Dynamic content, if the content is embedded from another source, we cannot guarantee its accessibility.
  • External or third-party services: the website uses third party services such as Google (maps), Cookiebot, ThingLink, Events Calendar and BuddyBoss platform. Some of the third-party services may not be accessible.

Supervising authority

If you notice accessibility problems on the website, please start by giving feedback to the website administrator. It may take 14 days until you receive a reply.
