Theatre in Palm: A Journey of Growth and Connection (Part I 6-18/11/2023 during TIP HYBRID RESIDENCY)

For me, Theatre in Palm was exactly what I needed at that moment in my life- an experience I truly cherished and continue to carry with me. It was my first time stepping into a project like this, not as a performer but as an intern, supporting the team with whatever was needed. Even in that helper role, I felt a strong sense of belonging and inclusion within the larger team.

I assisted with sound and lights and got a glimpse into the many different ways people approach performance-making. I met a wonderfully diverse group of people, took part in their exercises, and found myself in thoughtful conversations about cultural differences.

Beyond the creative and cultural exchange, I learned so much about the technical side of theatre- the behind-the-scenes work that brings a show to life. I was lucky enough to return later as a workshop participant, and having already been there once gave me valuable insight and preparation for the moment I finally stepped into a performing role.
