Theatre Movement at Balettakademien – Empowering emerging artists!

Intercult joins forces with one of Scandinavias’s largest dance schools, Balettakademien! As a part of the Theatre in Palm platform project we are looking forward to cultivating collaboration in performing arts with the aim of supporting emerging artist collaboration and international exchange together with Balettakademien (BA). Two activities have already been carried out as a part of the collaboration:
Inspirational lecture with residency participants
On February 23nd, 2024 the Intercult team visited Balettakademien for an inspirational and informative lecture about Theatre in Palm (TIP) and EU funding opportunities for artists. We were joined by Noah Hellwig and Martina Viglietti, participants of previous TIP residencies. They shared their TIP experiences from Greece, Portugal and Stockholm, engaging in a dynamic dialogue with the dance and theatre students of BA. The visit proved to be both enriching and enlightening.
Open Stage for emerging artists
Two weeks later, on the 8th of March – International Women’s day, Intercult and Balettakademien organised an open stage for emerging artists. The registration was open for emerging artists in post-secondary artistic education and professionals in performing arts interested in presenting their work in progress to an audience.
The audience had the opportunity to discover the stars of tomorrow, where they experienced new works in progress at BA’s Stage Studio Four. It was a chance to watch and enjoy emerging talent in action. The 13 performances were followed by an informal feedback session, where the audience were welcomed up on the stage to discuss with the artists and choreographers over some snacks and drinks.
